Video Games Inform Cultural Artifacts at the Macquarie University History Museum
With Prof. Alan Galey, Macquarie University History Museum experiments with video games to inform cultural artifacts from the Museum’s own collections. This project bridges the gap between historians, museums, and digital media by assessing the historical accuracy of popular video games. With 3.09 billion gamers worldwide consuming culturally contingent historical narratives, this initiative seeks to provide a critical evaluation of these games. The goal is to inform the public, demonstrate how museum objects can enhance game assessments, and ultimately inspire interest in history. In addition, this project explores the potential for developing educational games that focus on Australian and Canadian history.
