Our Team

Patrick Keilty is Director of the GLAM Incubator and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Information and Cinema Studies Institute at the University of Toronto. Prior to academia, he worked in libraries and archives in the U.S. and U.K., including the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library at UCLA, the Library of Congress, the American Library Association’s Washington Office, and the Westminster Archives Centre in London, U.K. From 2018 – 2023, he was Archives Director of the University of Toronto’s Sexual Representation Collection. His recent research interests can be divided into two areas: the politics of digital infrastructures in the sex industries and the materiality of sexual media. He has published on embodiment and technology, data science, the history of information retrieval, cataloging, archives, design and experience, graphic design, temporality, and sexual taxonomies. His work spans visual culture, sexual politics, science and technology studies, media studies, information studies, political economy, critical theory, and theories of gender, sexuality, and race. His research projects have been generously supported by multiple grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). He is the editor or coeditor of Handbook of Adult Film and Media (Intellect 2025), Queer Data Studies (University of Washington Press 2023), and Feminist & Queer Information Studies Reader (Litwin 2013).

Cate Cleo Alexander is Coordinator of the GLAM Incubator and PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. Cate’s lifelong passion for history has taken her from archaeological field digs in Kastro Kallithea (Greece) and Roccagloriosa (Italy) to the digital realms of online archives. Her dissertation examines digital public history through feminist new-materialist and political economic theory in order to establish a better understanding of how platforms influence the production, distribution, and consumption of public history. When she is not studying cultural heritage, digital humanities, or media theory, Cate can be found swing dancing, making memes, or watching long video essays on YouTube. Cate’s research is generously funded by a SSHRC Joseph Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship — Doctoral (CGS-D) Award.
